Vision

eyes "Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint." Prov. 29:18.

Are you at "the top of your game"? Is your life turning out to be all that you wanted it to be? Or do you find your life spiraling out of control- doing a nose dive spinning around and around?

"Where there is no vision..." When once we lose sight of God, we begin to be reckless, we cast off restraint, we cast off praying and attending church, we cast off the vision of God in the little things in our lives, and we begin to act on our will and initiative. We seek our own independence while living under the illusion that we can do it on our own. My favorite example of this is the New Hampshire motto that is plastered on their license plates: "Live free or Die!" Here is a statewide pursuit to be free, if I've ever seen one. But, if we are eating out of our own hands, doing things on our initiative without expecting God to come in, striving to reach the pinnacle of our careers- we are actually on the downward path... we have lost the vision.

What is your vision? Is it solely to buy that new car? to upgrade to the bigger house? to provide for your children's needs? or perhaps to finish school? These are all fine and dandy, but where is God in your vision of these things? Is your vision today an attitude that springs from a hope to know God? Are you expecting God to do greater things than S/He has ever done? Is there a freshness and a vigor in your outlook to life?

Maybe more importantly, how does your vision fit into the scheme of the church? Do you have dreams and aspirations for the plight of the church? If the church were no longer to exist, how would it affect your vision?

Today, may you stay focused on the vision of God and "seek first the Kingdom of God and ALL these things will be added to you."
