Prayer Through the Storm

Ships in Distress Apostle Paul set a standard for all Christians to model their life when strife comes. On the way to Rome, Apostle Paul and numerous others on board the ship that landed on the Island of Malta came in contact with tragedy from the turbulent sea. Many times he faced death, but with the help of God he was spared.

How did God spare Paul’s life? In Acts Chapter 27, we are told when Paul faced troubles, he prayed earnestly for guidance and protection for himself and others. Prayer was his weapon against wicked forces that tried to destroy him. Paul did not wait until trouble came to pray, as noted in Acts Chapter 28, he was dressed for warfare at all times, even on this ship. Prayer and supplication were food for his soul. His attitude and relationship about God shined through his conduct when the ship on the stormy sea presented difficulty for everyone. Paul prayed and prophesized in the presence of believers and non-believers.

Prayer, wisdom and knowledge were instruments used by Paul to help other prisoners like himself to a safe dock on the shores of Malta. Not one time did he lose trust in God. He prayed and gave the travelers comfort.

If you are on a life and death journey and it looks like only destruction is the answer, what do you do? How we handle these situations, depend on what and whom we believe. Pray earnestly for guidance and protection. Use prayer as your weapon against the storm. Trust that God will be victorious in all situations. Prayer will help us through the storm.
