Heaven's Noel

"When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?"  (Psalm 8:3-4)

A beautiful full moon shone in glory last Wednesday, as if to join in the celebration of the arrival of heaven's son 2000 years ago. Marvel, that One who imagines and calls into being such awesome things, chose to become one of us. For God the Son existed before moon and sun, and shone with glory greater than theirs, yet cares so much for the creatures called human that he became the Babe of Bethlehem.

From that initial commitment to us came all the rest that makes God known: the ministry, the crucifixion, the resurrection, the sending of the Spirit, the presence with us now and forever.

Look into the heavens this holy season, and know, deep in your soul, that even though you don't understand why, you matter, you matter dearly, to our magnificent God.
