Breath of Life

God "...And breathed into his nostrils the breath of life..." (Genesis 2:7)

The breath that animated the first human being is divine breath, and imparted not only biological life, but also eternal existence. From the beginning, the human creature has sensed life beyond current existence, and has longed to know about and control it.

Adam In China, it produced fear of negative influences from deceased ancestors.

In India, people felt trapped in a never-ending cycle of human existence.

In ancient Egypt, rulers were obsessed with it.

In classical Greece, souls were judged in it.

In Hebrew thought, shades were lost in it.

But in Christ, the life breath is made present and secure.

No human effort, even religious rituals, have or can control the nature of one's existence after death. But it is the great gift of God to guarantee to those in Christ a place in the presence of God forever.

Christ guarantees this true, abundant, unending life by His own resurrection from the dead, and seals it in us by the presence of the Holy Spirit. You have resurrection life in you. Feel its power; pass on its blessing.
